synopsis

The original, pre-Victorian version of Little Red Riding Hood as recounted in Jack Zipes' fairy tale collection Don't Bet on the Prince. In this pre-Grimms Brothers version, the heroic child protagonist uses wits and courage to outsmart the Big Bad Wolf rather than relying on the Woodsman for rescue. Tungsten-balanced film shot in daylight to produce cool tones and enhance the dream-like quality of a forest in December.
